The empowerment center, located in the Highland Community of Gastonia, North Carolina will interweave the community support capabilities of the James Worthy Foundation and Gaston Community Action (GCA) into a value-added and strategic alliance. Under this alliance, the GCA will continue its work with Head Start, Highland Charter Public School, Community Service Block Grant and the weatherization program.

Our Foundation realizes there is a wide spectrum of community action organizations that have serviced the Gaston Regional area and provides numerous support programs to help low-income citizens of the Gaston Region. Our, mission is to work in partnership with these community support organizations, elected officials, the private sector and low-income citizens to identify challenges for those with fixed and/or low-income and help them to seek ways to strengthen their support.  Our goal is to enhance people’s lives, embody in them the spirit of hope, and improve their communities.
