The James Worthy Foundation equates philanthropy with both benevolence and charity for the poor and can also be any altruistic act that fulfills a community social need that is not served and/or is under-served.
We also believe that philanthropy can be a means to build a community by growing its funds and services while allowing the citizens to see themselves as being resource rich instead of asset poor. Consquently, the community will be in a better position to solve their problems.
