The mission of the James Worthy Foundation is to be a mutually re-enforceable and value-added alliance partner to those community support organizations that have synergies with our “Pillars of Success”. | President Obama, with Congress's strongest bipartisan support, signed the late Senator Kennedy's Serve America Act into law, boosted the budget for AmeriCorps and the Corporation for National and Community Service, funded social innovation and volunteer infrastructure initiatives, launched the United We Serve campaign, and made civic engagement central to his presidency. |
The James Worthy Foundation has embraced this spirit of community service and is fully committed to working with all of the many points of lights in North Carolina and serving as a focusing entity to synchronize their efforts into a “Laser of Realization”. We are passionate about improving the quality of life and health of people and communities throughout Gaston County and the foundation's philanthropy reflects that passion. We focus our grants and community involvement in the areas where we can make unique and positive contributions.

| | Rural Community Poverty President Obama Weekly Address - February 12, 2013: In his State of the Union Address, President Obama laid out a plan to build on the progress we’ve made over the last four years to expand opportunity for every American and every community willing to do the work to lift themselves up. But there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the challenges we face. It will take a collaborative effort—between business and federal, state, and local officials; faith-based and non-profit organizations; kids and parents—to ensure that hard work leads to a decent living for every American. Read more about his plan below.
